J Vineyards Pinot Gris is a minerally and fruity Pinot Grigio, its medium plus acidity pairs very well with salty foods.

Classic appetizers are French fries, salads, and salty olives.

If are into fish, shellfish and grilled fish are a match made in heaven for it.

If you prefer meat, go for white meat.

Cheese wise go for semi-soft and firm cheeses like Fontina and Beaufort for example.

J Vineyards Pinot Gris review: What's its alcohol content?

J Vineyards Pinot Gris wine’s alcohol content is 14%.

In case you wonder about alcohol content or more precisely Alcohol By Volume, i.e. ABV, measure the alcoholic strength of a drink.

There is a direct relationship between the sugar left in the wine after the alcoholic fermentation has taken place, i.e. Residual Sugar or RS, and ABV.

During alcoholic fermentation, the yeast transforms the sugar in the grape juice into alcohol.

Grapes with high residual sugar will therefore produce dry wine with a high ABV.

How many calories are in a glass of J Vineyards Pinot Gris wine?

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture [1] a 5-ounce glass will contain about 120 to 130 calories.

Alcohol contains 7 calories per gram. So a wine with high ABV will have a higher calories per glass than a wine with low ABV.

Furthermore, sugar contributes to the calorie count.

A dry wine will usually have 4 calories per grams vs a sweet wine that will have around 20 calories per grams of carbs, which include sugar.

What is J Vineyards brand?

Here is an extract from the J Vineyards website:

“Our J winemaking team, led by Nicole Hitchcock, strives to translate the diversity of the Russian River Valley

– from the cool, coastal locations to the bright, sun-drenched hillsides – to the bottle.

Each estate vineyard offers a distinct expression of a different location within the vast Russian River Valley AVA.

This is a light and fruity dry J Vineyards Pinot Gris that for around ~$16 offers a good value for your money given the amount of complexity it offers.

Lime, white peach, pear, pineapple flavors, and a wet stone finish will complement many dishes from veggie, pasta, white meat, fish, and our beloved cheeses.

Try it with salty olives, avocado, grilled sardines, chicken sandwich, or Fontina and it’ll be a delight. At least it was for me!😍
